Color Inspiration: Glacier Gray

Living in Seattle we have our fair share of gray skies, but this Pacific NW native, embraces the overcast, cloudy days (especially with a toasty summer like we’re having this year!)  So today we’re focusing on the perfect neutral for all seasons, Glacier Gray.

What Pantone has to say:
“Glacier Gray is an unobtrusive gray that contrasts and enhances; bouncing off other shades without taking away from them as it slips into the background to allow other colors to take center stage. Nature’s most perfect neutral, Glacier Gray is a shade that is timeless. Quietly assuring and peacefully relaxing, Glacier Gray, is above all, constant.”

What Color Psychology has to say:
“Gray suggests security, reliability, modesty, and maturity.  Gray is the color of intellect, knowledge, and wisdom. It is perceived as long-lasting, classic, and often as sleek or refined. It is a color that is dignified, conservative, and carries authority.”

What we say:
Gray is one of the hottest colors this year and we’re seeing it everywhere from bridesmaid dresses to table linens.  With a huge variance of dark to light options, think silver to charcoal to almost white-gray, this color balances elegantly, yet whimsically, with yellows, blues, pinks, oranges, purple, and whites.

How to use it in your decor:
Use large pieces of decor, such as sofas, to refect your color palette throughout your reception area and then use pops of your coordinating colors for balance through the use of pillows.
